Dorothy L. Sayers
(1893-1957) was a well known novelist, poet, playwright, essayist, translator. Her fields of expertise were classical and modern languages and medieval literature. She was one of the first women to receive a degree from the University of Oxford, graduating with first class honors in modern languages. Her theological convictions were traditional Anglican. Her essay “The Lost Tools of Learning” has become a classic document in the homeschool and classical Christian school movements.
